Establishing Personal Social Support Infrastructure

The lack of social interaction can be enough to decrease the motivation of team and members have serious trouble with the tasks done. Imagine that some of your members just have the possibility to interact with other people meanwhile they are working. If the team doesn't make members feel comfortable is it very possible that they don't feel important, or as part of the team. The lack of a supportive infrastructure will end in continuous unfinished tasks or even worst continuous staff turnover.

Plan for a healthy work and life balance

Remote work can give us the possibility to manage our work, but that doesn't mean that the workers are doing whatever they want. Having a structured workload for members can make it easier for them to adapt and find the work balance. It is essential that we never forget that members need to keep living their life. Working remotely implies a lot of skills to organize: agendas, to-do lists, or just timing can help the member to start with their own rhythm to achieve a real life-work balance.
Working alone requires a lot of effort and motivation, which should be supported by the company. Also, it is especially important to ensure good team collaboration and interaction to achieve a healthy work rhythm.

Establish a personal trustee

It is very beneficial for the personal trustee development, not just to achieve a work-life balance, it is important because members can support and work better if they feel supported by their team. The benefits end up being great for the member's confidence and at the same time beneficial for the team.

It is not just about giving trust and say "you can talk and send a message any time", this is not enough. Is about sharing social experiences, social activities, or even enterprise social media.

Establish mentorship relationships

Social support can be present in a lot of ways. Mentorship can be the best trigger to increase motivation and help the new and old members to keep collaborating. Experienced remote workers taking mentorship to help a new member address their new work are very beneficial. It can help the new member to achieve a quick adaptation, interact with the team and learn about the company. Meanwhile help old members to reinforce their rhythm, meet the new members, build trust and cohesion.

Never forget the importance that feedback can have in all teams, not just in Agile ones. Feedback can make mentorship even more fruitful.

Account for the impact on the collocated members

If you have some collocated members in your team it is essential to maintain visibility and cohesion. All of this supported by the company and assigning resources to increase the way their team is communicating. Encouraging remote members' visibility through different situations can make a notorious change in the way the team is collaborating. All of this supported with tools for remote workers.

Provide relevant training for remote workers and the collocated workers.

Keeping into consideration that some teams are used to have collocated teams, implies more efforts defining the process work for both parts.
